Portable Air Sampler
Portable Air Sampler
PTC supplies the MiniVol™ TAS from Airmetrics which samples ambient air at 5 liters/minute for particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5, TSP).
While not a reference method sampler, the MiniVol™ TAS gives results that closely approximate data from Federal Reference Method samplers. Lightweight, portable and battery-operated, the MiniVol™ TAS is ideal for sampling air quality in remote areas or locations where no permanent site has been established.

Applications - Developed To Be Versatile
The MiniVol™ Portable Air Sampler provides a level of flexibility that makes it the first choice for:
- PM2.5 FRM network validation studies
- Urban air quality studies
- Fugitive dust from cropland erosion - PM10, PM2.5, TSP
- Monitoring dust at landfill remediation sites
- Perimeter sampling at industrial/manufacturing sites - PM10, PM2.5, TSP
- Fence line sampling at coal-fired plants
- Background dust monitoring at mining and gravel operations - TSP
Urban or Remote
Particulate Sampling – Urban or remote sampling using a network of samplers in a project area will determine where the worst air quality problems exist. In addition to providing data for environmental impact studies, saturation sampling is frequently used to determine the location for permanent monitoring sites, to define boundaries of air quality concerns, and to determine the extent of point source impacts.

Indoor Air Quality Sampling
The small size and low noise output of the MiniVol™ TAS make it ideal for monitoring air quality in the workplace or in public facilities.
Other uses – The MiniVol™ has been used to sample background dust near open pit mining operations, landfill remediation sites, and coal-fired electrical power plants. It has also been used to monitor ambient air quality impacts from a variety of sources including volcanoes, solid fuel rocket engines, oil fires in Kuwait, and forest fires.
