Ultrasonic 2 axis Anemometers (Wind speed & direction)
Ultrasonic 2 axis Anemometers (Wind speed & direction)
Ultrasonic 2 axis Anemometers (Wind speed & direction)
The WindSonic anemometer is a low cost alternative to conventional cup and vane or propeller wind sensors. The WindSonic combines both wind speed and direction data into one serial (or two analogue outputs), which are transmitted together with an instrument status code, confirming correct operation.
A lightweight unit (0.5 kg) of robust construction, manufactured in a polycarbonate blend material, designed to withstand installation and use without the fear of damage associated with more fragile cups or propellers. The WindSonic has been designed for marine or land based applications.
There is no need for expensive site calibration or maintenance. With a corrosion free exterior, WindSonic is a true “fit and forget” wind speed sensor.

The WindObserver II has all of the performance features of the WindSonic plus increased speed range, an optional de-icing system extending the operational temperature range, stainless steel construction, IP66 enclosure, sonic temperature output and averaging (1-3600s). The WindObserver II has a proven record in airport, offshore, marine and naval applications. The WindObserver II has been rigorously tested to a number of international standards.
High Speed Version
The High Speed WindObserver offers the first class performance of the WindObserverII but has been enhanced to measure wind speed and direction to wind speeds of 75 m/s (168 mph). This proves essential in applications involving tornados and tropical storms, in land based and offshore applications. The small opposing transducers provide maximum possible directional ultrasonic signals (used to provide wind data) whilst ensuring the minimum of wind distortion. The instrument includes a de-icing system as standard to extend the operational temperature range.
This first class wind speed and direction sensor has been proven in many applications worldwide and complements the range of wind speed and direction (anemometer) products from Gill.

WindObserver IS (Intrinsically Safe Version)
An Intrinsically Safe WindObserver is also available which complies with the ATEX directive, specifically designed for use on offshore oil platforms and petrochemical plants. The WindObserver II has been type approved by the Lloyd’s Register of London.
